Hoagy On Readmore Building
We are active participants in the quality of life in our community. The project below is one of the actions we have initiated.
We are raising the funds to paint a 40 foot tall Hoagy Carmichael portrait on the back of the Readmore Building. This portrait will greet every vistor entering Richmond from the south as it overlooks Highway 27, and remind everyone of Richmond's Starr-Gennett heritage. It also overlooks the crossroads of the National Road and the Underground Railway. Scheduled for completion in June, Randy Carmichael has agreed to appear and sing at the 'unveiling' on July 4th. The total cost to create this mural will be $21,000 As of May 1, $11,000 has been donated with $10,000 left to raise to complete this project.
